Ventricular late potentials among thalassemia patients

International Journal of Cardiology, 2009
Iron induced cardiac abnormalities remain the number one cause of death among thalassemia major (TM) patients. Signal averaged ECG (SAECG) was suggested to predict ventricular tachycardia as the underlying substrate for up to 5% incidence of sudden cardiac death among TM patients.

Significance of late ventricular potentials in myotonic dystrophy

The American Journal of Cardiology, 1999
In 39 patients with myotonic dystrophy, we found a high percentage of infrahissian cardiac conduction abnormalities (51%) and late potentials (46%), whereas spontaneous and inducible ventricular arrhythmias were rare. These results suggest that the prolongation of QRSD and the duration of the low-amplitude signal on the signal-averaged ...

Time-Frequency Analysis of Ventricular Late Potentials

Methods of Information in Medicine, 1994
Abstract:The time-frequency characteristics are studied of averaged and filtered ECG records from 21 patients with sustained ventricular tachycardia and 29 healthy control subjects. Simulated data as well as real ECG records reveal the detection accuracy of the wavelet transform of signals with late potentials.

Electrophysiologic basis of ventricular late potentials

Progress in Cardiovascular Diseases, 1993
T HE DIRECT recording of delayed depolarization potentials on the body surface, usually referred to as late potentials, is a noninvasive technique useful in identifying patients with the anatomic-electrophysiologic substrate for ventricular tachyarrhythmias based on a reentrant mechanism. The origin of late potentials is believed to be myocardial zones

Prevalence of Late Ventricular Potentials in Hypertensive Patients

Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology, 1991
Late ventricular potentials detected by signal averaging are used for predicting ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death in patients with coronary artery disease. We studied the prevalence of signal-averaged late ventricular potentials in 37 male patients (mean age of 56 years) with angiographically normal coronary arteries. Seventeen patients

Ventricular Late Potentials in the Assessment of Mitoxantrone Cardiotoxicity

Cardiology, 2008
Sixteen female patients underwent signal-averaged electrocardiography and radionuclide angiography for the assessment of the resting left ventricular ejection fraction in the course of chemotherapy with mitoxantrone (MTX) for advanced breast cancer. Nine patients had received prior cardiotoxic treatments.

Late Potentials and Ventricular Arrhythmias

Physiology, 1990
A computerized method, signal-averaged electrocardiography, analyzes standard electrocardiography recordings, thereby identifying particular microvolt-level signals, called "late potentials". Correlated with clinical ventricular tachycardia, these data are predictive of ventricular tachycardia inducibility and arrhythmic events after myocardial ...

[Ventricular late potentials in athletes].

Zeitschrift fur Kardiologie, 1993
Ventricular late potentials detected by signal averaging have a high predictive value for the origin of malignant ventricular tachyarrhythmias in patients with coronary artery disease. We examined 35 male sportsmen aged from 22 to 33 years. Clinical examination, ECG at rest, echocardiography and signal averaging were performed.

Wenckebach Pattern of Ventricular Late Potentials

2000
Ventricular late potentials are considered a marker of an arrhythmogenic substrate especially in patients with a history of myocardial infarction. The classic way of late potential analysis, the vector analysis in the time domain, the so called Simson method, is useful in the post-infarction risk stratification with its great ability to predict a very ...

Differentiation between late potentials of right ventricular and of left ventricular origin

The American Journal of Cardiology, 1989
The aim of this study was to determine whether late potentials of right and left ventricular origin could be differentiated with the use of a signal-averaging technique. Nineteen patients with both late potentials and recurrent sustained ventricular tachycardia were divided into 2 groups according to the origin of their late potentials.
