Ventricular late potentials and myocardial fibrosis in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
Journal of Electrocardiology, 2020Ventricular late potentials (VLPs) represent delayed conduction due in part to myocardial fibrosis. We sought to examine the relationship of signal-averaged electrocardiography findings with myocardial fibrosis as assessed by cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM).This study consisted of 41 HCM patients with

Ventricular Late Potentials: State of the Art and Future Perspectives
European Heart Journal, 1994Although the signal-averaging technique is over one hundred years old, its first use was demonstrated on the human heart in 1963 and ten years later recording of His bundle potentials from the body surface became feasible. During the last decade interest has been focused on ventricular late potentials (LP) which represent zones of delayed myocardial ...

Dynamic behavior of ventricular late potentials
1989In a series of 44 patients, 5 females and 39 males, the incidence and dynamic behavior of ventricular late potentials was studied. Using a home-built high resolution electrocardiogram equipment ventricular late potentials were found within the ST segment in 27/44 patients, and in 11 patients were the late potentials observed intermittently.

Ventricular Late Potentials Studied By Nonstationary Signal Analysis
Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 1992The time-frequency characteristics of late potentials (EP) of preprocessed ECG signals were investigated by means of FFT-spectrograms and the wavelet transform. The averaged ECGs of 21 patients with ventricular tachycardia and of 29 normal subjects were studied. The time-frequency distribution plots of wavelet transforms demonstrate a considerable high

Noninvasive beat-to-beat detection of ventricular late potentials
Medical & Biological Engineering & Computing, 1989The detection of ventricular late potentials is a subject of some clinical interest. Most techniques currently being investigated rely on signal averaging to extract the microvolt signals from the considerable amounts of noise which are present. Although this approach produces useful results, it does remove any beat-to-beat variations from the signal ...

The analysis of ventricular late potentials using orthogonal recordings
IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 1988The use of orthogonal lead recordings to characterize signal-averaged late potentials is discussed. A theoretical analysis is made of the performances of individual orthogonal leads and their vector magnitude. Some limitations of the vector magnitude for characterizing late potentials are developed in relation to the distribution of signal and noise ...

The Significance of Electrocardiographic Late Potentials: Predictors of Ventricular Tachycardia
Annual Review of Medicine, 1992Cardiac late potentials are observed by using a high-resolution, computer-processed ECG that can detect very low-level signals not seen with standard ECG techniques. Numerous clinical studies have demonstrated that patients with low-level signals after the QRS complexes (late potentials) are at much higher risk of ventricular tachycardia and sudden ...

Ventricular late potentials after thrombolysis.
The Journal of the Association of Physicians of India, 1995High frequency low amplitude signals that prolong the terminal portion of the QRS complex in the electrocardiogram are termed late potentials (LPs). It has been established for quite some time that the presence of LPs after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is associated with an increased risk of ventricular tachyarrythmias and sudden cardiac death ...

The detection and analysis of ventricular late potentials.
Biomedical sciences instrumentation, 1994This paper introduces a ventricular late potentials (VLP) detecting and analyzing system and discusses the technique of detecting reference point used to align the QRS and the method for calculating diagnostic parameters. The AMDF algorithm fasts the correlation process. In order to eliminate analytical error, bidirectional digital filter is adopted.

[Hypertensive cardiopathy and ventricular late potentials].
Archives des maladies du coeur et des vaisseaux, 1993Ventricular arrhythmias occur with increased frequency in hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH). The aim of this work is to study the incidence of ventricular late potentials (LP) and their relation to ventricular arrhythmias in 148 hypertensive patients, 87 men and 55 women, without evidence of a coronaropathy. For each patient
