Developmentally Inspired Bioprinting of Nascent Multicellular Human Heart Tissue Through in Situ Differentiation and Morphogenesis of iPSCs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A developmentally inspired bioprinting approach enables the fabrication of pluripotent tissues that undergo shape‐morphing and in situ cardiac lineage specification. This method employs embedded bioprinting to deposit iPSCs within soft granular hydrogels to create pluripotent tissue constructs that undergo cell‐mediated shape morphogenesis.

Engineering Approaches to Modify Immunomodulatory Functions of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSCs): Tissue Regeneration and Clinical Application

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) show promise for treating immune‐related disorders through immunomodulation and tissue regeneration. This review gives a brief overview of current clinical approval of MSC therapies. It also discussed how bioengineering, including genetic modification, biomaterial delivery, extracellular vesicles, and iPSC‐derived MSCs,

The KCa2 Channel Inhibitor AP14145, But Not Dofetilide or Ondansetron, Provides Functional Atrial Selectivity in Guinea Pig Hearts

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2019
Background and Purpose: Prolongation of cardiac action potentials is considered antiarrhythmic in the atria but can be proarrhythmic in ventricles if the current carried by Kv11.1-channels (IKr) is inhibited.

Rate-dependency of action potential duration and refractoriness in isolated myocytes from the rabbit AV node and atrium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
During atrial fibrillation, ventricular rate is determined by atrioventricular nodal (AVN) conduction, which in part is dependent upon the refractoriness of single AVN cells.

Repolarization dispersion in patients with systemic sclerosis

open access: yes, 2020
OBJECTIVE: Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is associated with increased cardiac morbidity and mortality. Whether some electrocardiographic markers of arrhythmias predispose to early cardiogenic death in SSc remains controversial.

Similarities and differences of clinical characteristics between Brugada syndrome and early repolarization syndrome

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, 2013
Early repolarization (or J wave) is a common electrocardiographic finding that occurs in 1% to 10% of healthy persons. It has been generally considered benign for decades.
