A comprehensive review of cancer‐induced cardiac wasting

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Cancer is frequently accompanied by cachexia, a systemic syndrome characterized by progressive loss of skeletal muscle mass, with or without loss of fat mass. Increasing evidence indicates that cancer can also induce cardiac muscle wasting, which is associated with structural cardiac remodelling, impaired contractile function and the development of ...

Expanding the Phenotypic Spectrum Associated With Loss‐of‐Function SMARCA4 Variants to Eye Developmental Anomalies

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
This study expands the clinical spectrum of SMARCA4 by describing a novel phenotype in three unrelated individuals with truncating variants. Distinct from Coffin–Siris syndrome and rhabdoid tumor predisposition, this new association is characterized by ocular malformations, specifically microphthalmia and coloboma.

Pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum

Current Treatment Options in Cardiovascular Medicine, 2002
The prognosis for patients with pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum is poor with and without conventional surgical treatment. Because of this reason, a comprehensive program of medical, transcatheter, and surgical treatment is necessary to improve the long-term outlook of these infants.

Gerbode ventricular septum defect covered by a ballooning membranous ventricular septum

Clinical Research in Cardiology, 2012
A 55-year-old man was admitted due to a new cardiac murmur diagnosed by his general practitioner during check-up. The patient was asymptomatic and denied chest pain or dyspnea. Physical examination revealed a grade 3/6 holosystolic heart murmur at the left sternal border with increased intensity to handgrip maneuvers.

Pulmonary stenosis with closed ventricular septum

American Heart Journal, 1957
Abstract The authors have selected fifteen cases of pulmonary stenosis with closed ventricular septum; in six patients could be demonstrated the presence of a patent foramen ovale or a true atrial septal defect; in two other cases there existed an anomaly of the venous return.

Pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum

The American Journal of Cardiology, 1968
Abstract Thirty-nine autopsy cases of Type i pulmonary atresia with an intact ventricular septum have been reviewed. Clinical correlation was available in 19 cases; catheterization and angiocardiographic data were included in 7. This complex is associated with an extremely thickwalled but minute capacity right ventricular chamber which is generally

Congenital aneurysms of the ventricular septum

American Heart Journal, 1963
Abstract Congenital aneurysms of the ventricular septum occur uncommonly. They apparently result from faulty shift of the septum and failure of proper rotation of the aorta, according to the theory originally advanced by Mall and later amplified by Lev and Saphir.
