Fury and the antitheatrical prejudice: The violent power of play‐acting in the Cervantine picaresque
Orbis Litterarum, Volume 81, Issue 1, Page 11-26, February 2026.Abstract The article studies a cross‐generic relation between theatrical performance and the outbreak of violence in picaresque contexts across works by Miguel de Cervantes. It then proceeds to contextualize these persistent incidents within the philosophical history of antitheatricality.
