Antiarthritic Activity of Vernonia amygdalina in Albino Rats

2011
The aim of this study was to evaluate the antiarthritic activity. The water extract of leaves of Vernonia amygdalina (V.A.) on arthritis induced model in rats. Arthritis was induced in male Wistar albino rats by injection of croton oil (0.1ml) into the left foot pad of the animals. Treatment with V.A. (200 and 400mg/kg b.w.).

Pharmacological Studies On Root Extract Of Vernonia amygdalina

2005
Administration of ethanolic extract of root of Vernonia amygdalina (100,200,400,600mg/kg p.o) offered significant (P>0.05) protection against pentylenetetrazole (PTZ)- induced lethality. The extract also had a significant (p > 0.05) analgesic activity against acetic acid induced abdominal constriction in a dose dependent fashion compared to control. It

2005
Macroscopical, microscopical and chemo-microscopical studies have been carried out on the leaves of Vernonia amygdalina Del. of the family Asteraceae. Anomocytic stomata (in the upper and lower epidermis), calcium oxalate crystals (rosette and prism type), starch grains and covering trichomes were identified.

Anticoccidial activity of Carica papaya and Vernonia amygdalina extract

2019
The anticoccidial effect of C. papaya and V. amygdalina crude juice was tested on 100 Eimeria tenella experimentally infected day-old Isa-brown male chicks in a completely randomized design, as an alternative coccidiosis control measure. Each chick received 3 x 104 E. tenella oocysts doses.
