Dermatocarpon (Verrucariaceae) in the Ozark Highlands, North America

Bryologist, 2008
Dermatocarpon, a saxicolous lichen, is common throughout the Ozarks Highlands of North America where exposed rock is abundant. Dermatocarpon is an understudied genus. Species delimitation is difficult because of a paucity of morphological characters and a large degree of variation within this genus.

Plant Systematics and Evolution, 1993
13 species of the lichen genusCatapyrenium are reported from South America. Five species (C. analogicum, C. andicolum, C. exaratum, C. lachneoides, andC. podolepis) are described as new. A key to the species known from South America is presented. Remarks on taxonomy, ecology and distribution of the species are given.

Atla, a new genus in the Verrucariaceae ( Verrucariales)

The Lichenologist, 2008
Abstract:The new genus Atla forms a well-supported clade in a molecular phylogeny based on the ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 and LSU regions of the nuclear ribosomal DNA. The genus has a crustose thallus, a hamathecium at maturity without hyphal elements except for pseudoparaphyses remaining at the ostiolum, and large, muriform spores.
