Expression of soluble versatile peroxidase of Bjerkandera adusta in Escherichia coli

Bioresource Technology, 2009
Versatile peroxidase from white rot fungus Bjerkandera adusta was over-expressed in a soluble form in Escherichia coli. In the constructed enzyme model based on the selected gene from B. adusta, the active sites for oxidation of Mn(2+) ions and for oxidation of aromatic substrates were identified, both characteristic for versatile peroxidase.

A sensitive and versatile chromogenic assay for peroxidase and peroxidase-coupled reactions

Analytical Biochemistry, 1980
A sensitive and versatile chromogenic assay for peroxidase and peroxidase-coupled reactions is described. The assay is based on the oxidative coupling of 3-methyl-2-benzothiazolinone hydrazone (MBTH) and 3-(dimethylamino)benzoic acid (DMAB). In the presence of H2O2, MBTH and DMAB peroxidase catalyze the formation of a deep purple compound, most likely ...

Versatility of the Electronic Structure of Compound I in Catalase-Peroxidases

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2007
Catalase-peroxidases (KatGs) are bifunctional heme proteins, belonging to the family of class I peroxidases, that are able to catalyze both catalatic and peroxidatic reactions within a peroxidase-like structure. We investigated the electronic structure of reaction intermediates of the catalytic cycle of KatGs by means of density functional theory (DFT)

Versatile peroxidase of Bjerkandera fumosa: Substrate and inhibitor specificity

Enzyme and Microbial Technology, 2013
The inhibitor and substrate specificities of versatile peroxidase from Bjerkandera fumosa (VPBF) were studied. Two different effects were found: NaN(3), Tween-80, anthracene, and fluorene decreased the activity of VPBF, but p-aminobenzoic acid increased it. A mixed mechanism of effector influence on the activity of this enzyme was shown.

Transformation of halogenated pesticides by versatile peroxidase from Bjerkandera adusta

Enzyme and Microbial Technology, 2005
Abstract Purified versatile peroxidase (VP) from the white rot fungus Bjerkandera adusta UAMH 8258 was used to study the transformation of several pesticides, including some as highly halogenated as the wood preservative pentachlorophenol (PCP). From the 13 pesticides assayed, dichlorophen, bromoxynil and PCP were transformed by VP in the presence ...

Peroxidase-like nanozyme sensing arrays for versatile analytes

Journal of Nanoparticle Research, 2020
Nanozyme biosensors are generally constructed by using the conventional lock-and-key strategy, which may not be available for some emerging analytes without specific recognition elements. In addition, it is difficult to carry out multiplex detection. To address these challenges, array-based sensing platforms have been constructed by using peroxidase ...

Continuous Removal of Nonylphenol by Versatile Peroxidase in a Two-Stage Membrane Bioreactor

Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2015
The ligninolytic enzymes versatile peroxidase (VP) and manganese peroxidase (MnP) have been previously described as efficient oxidizers of the endocrine disrupting chemical (EDC) nonylphenol at high concentrations of the pollutant. Envisaging the application of an enzymatic technology as a tertiary treatment in wastewater treatment plants, it is ...
