Cellular Snowballing: Cell Adhesion and Migration Drive the Self‐Assembly of Cell‐Microgel Biohybrid Spheroids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new class of biohybrid spheroids is engineered through the self‐assembly of adherent cells and extracellular matrix‐mimetic hydrogel microparticles (microgels). By mimicking a snowballing effect, this approach enables scalable formation of porous, millimeter‐scale spheroids with enhanced cell viability and molecular diffusion.

VVC coded distortion prediction model based on frame-level transform coefficient modeling of generalized Gaussian distribution

open access: yesDianxin kexue, 2023
In versatile video coding (VVC), a variety of advanced coding tools work together to achieve excellent coding performance.Compared with high efficient video coding (HEVC), the transform coefficient distribution (TCD) of VVC has sharper peaks. In order to ...

Research on VVC Intra-Frame Bit Allocation Scheme Based on Significance Detection

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This research is based on an intra-frame rate control algorithm based on the Versatile Video Coding (VVC) standard, considering that there is the phenomenon of over-allocating the bitrate of the end coding tree units (CTUs) in the bit allocation process,

Conformable Microelectrode Arrays Integrated with a Scoop‐Shaped Slide‐Well for Dynamic Electrophysiological Profiling of Patient‐Derived Cardiac Organoids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A flexible, ultrathin multi‐channel microelectrode array (MEA) conformally integrated onto a curved slide‐well enables stable electrical interfacing with 3D cardiac organoids. The geometry‐guided self‐alignment allows simultaneous recording of extracellular field potentials and contractile motion from irregular, beating tissues.

A Soft Robotic Model for Simulating Heart Valve Disease and Cardiac Interventions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This paper introduces a fully synthetic fabrication methodology for a soft robotic, in‐vitro model of the left‐heart, complete with a functioning mitral valve apparatus. With a view towards patient‐specific modeling, we demonstrate physiological flow and pressure waveforms, tunable mitral valve function with clinical imaging compatibility, and its use ...

SKOOTS: Skeleton‐Oriented Object Segmentation for Mitochondria in High‐Resolution Cochlear EM Datasets

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Skeleton‐oriented object segmentation (SKOOTS) introduces a new strategy for 3D mitochondrial instance segmentation by predicting explicit skeletons rather than relying on boundary cues. This approach enables robust analysis of densely packed organelles in large FIB‐SEM datasets.

Temporal shape super-resolution by intra-frame motion encoding using high-fps structured light

open access: yes, 2017
One of the solutions of depth imaging of moving scene is to project a static pattern on the object and use just a single image for reconstruction. However, if the motion of the object is too fast with respect to the exposure time of the image sensor ...
