Arthroscopic‐Assisted Uni‐Portal Spinal Surgery Combined With Kirschner Wire Anchoring for Cervical Spondylotic Radiculopathy: A Technical Note and Preliminary Clinical Results

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, EarlyView.
This study is the first to describe the use of arthroscopic‐assisted uniportal spinal surgery (AUSS) with Kirschner‐wire anchoring in a cohort of 15 patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy (CSR). Postoperatively, patients experienced significant pain relief and marked improvement in cervical function.

Successful Management of a Refractory Orbital Pseudocyst in a Chinese Goose Using Intraorbital Gentamicin Injection

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To report the successful management of recurrent orbital swelling in a Chinese goose (Anser cygnoides ) following evisceration surgery, utilizing intraorbital gentamicin injection after multiple unsuccessful interventions. Animal Studied A 3‐year‐old, 4.58 kg male Chinese goose (Anser cygnoides ).

The current treatment—a survey of osteoporotic fracture treatment. Osteoporotic spine fractures: the spine surgeon's perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
For the spine surgeon the problems of the osteoporotic spine can be a painful simple compression fracture, the persisting instability after a fracture, the silent loss of posture due to progressive collapse of multiple vertebrae, and neurological ...

Women in space: A review of known physiological adaptations and health perspectives

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Exposure to the spaceflight environment causes adaptations in most human physiological systems, many of which are thought to affect women differently from men. Since only 11.5% of astronauts worldwide have been female, these issues are largely understudied.

A comparison of normobaric and hypobaric hypoxia effects on cerebrovascular response pre and post maximal exercise

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract A lack of consensus remains on whether normobaric hypoxia (NH) and hypobaric hypoxia (HH) may differentially impact physiological factors affecting cerebrovascular regulation, particularly with an additional strenuous exercise component. We sought to compare the acute effects of NH and HH on global cerebral blood flow (gCBF) at an altitude ...

How do compression and flexion-compression injuries destabilize the spine? A novel in vitro protocol for analyzing three-dimensional biomechanical instability

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology
IntroductionUnstable traumatic spinal injuries require surgical stabilization. However, biomechanical instability of specific spinal injuries has been little investigated, although restoring stability represents a primary goal of surgical treatment. This

A profiling analysis of contributions of cigarette smoking, dietary calcium intakes, and physical activity to fragility fracture in the elderly [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Fragility fracture and bone mineral density (BMD) are influenced by common and modifiable lifestyle factors. In this study, we sought to define the contribution of lifestyle factors to fracture risk by using a profiling approach.

Metastatic Spine Disease Alters Vertebral Load‐To‐Strength Ratios in Cancer Patients Compared to Healthy Individuals

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
This study investigated the effect of spinal bone metastasis (BM) on the biomechanical environment of the spine through estimates of load, strength, and the load‐to‐strength ratio (LSR). Our study suggests that task‐specific differences related to cancer, lesion type, and vertebral location differentially affect the biomechanical environment of the ...
