Antireflective vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser for LiDAR [PDF]
Multijunction vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) have gained popularity in automotive LiDARs, yet achieving a divergence of less than 16° (D86) is difficult for conventional extended cavity designs due to multiple-longitudinal-mode lasing ...

Electrically pumped surface-emitting amplified spontaneous emission from colloidal quantum dots [PDF]
Colloidal quantum dots (QDs) are promising gain materials for realizing solution-processable, wavelength-tunable and low-cost laser diodes. However, achieving electrically pumped amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) in QDs, a prerequisite for lasing, is ...

Simulation of Modal Control of Metal Mode-Filtered Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser [PDF]
In this study, a novel metal-dielectric film mode filter structure that can flexibly regulate the transverse mode inside vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) is proposed.

Low-threshold surface-emitting colloidal quantum-dot circular Bragg laser array [PDF]
Colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) are attractive gain media due to their wavelength-tunability and low optical gain threshold. Consequently, CQD lasers, especially the surface-emitting ones, are promising candidates for display, sensing and communication ...

Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Terahertz Laser [PDF]
Vertical cavity surface emitting terahertz lasers can be realized in conventional semiconductor microcavities with embedded quantum wells in the strong coupling regime. The cavity is to be pumped optically at half the frequency of the 2p exciton state.

Cavity solitons in vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers [PDF]
We investigate a control of the motion of localized structures (LSs) of light by means of delay feedback in the transverse section of a broad area nonlinear optical system. The delayed feedback is found to induce a spontaneous motion of a solitary LS that is stationary and stable in the absence of feedback.

Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Lasers [PDF]
AbstractThis issue of MRS Bulletin presents a review of the progress that vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) have made throughout the wavelength spectrum. A VCSEL is a semiconductor laser diode in which light propagates normal to the epitaxial layers.
