Vertical liquid controlled adiabatic waveguide coupler

open access: yesOptics Express, 2018
A broadband vertical liquid controlled optical waveguide coupler (LCC) is demonstrated. The fabricated vertical LCC with silicon nitride (SiN) waveguides can switch light between 2 stacked photonic circuit layers with zero energy consumption in a steady switch state.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Remotely operated gripper provides vertical control rod movement [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Remote actuation of a gripper shaft affects vertical engagement between a drive shaft and control rod. A secondary function of the gripper is to provide remote indication of positive completion of the gripping or ungripping ...

The Lyapunov-Malkin Theorem and Stabilization of the Unicycle with Rider [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
This paper analyzes stabilization of a nonholonomic system consisting of a unicycle with rider. It is shown that one can achieve stability of slow steady vertical motions by imposing a feedback control force on the rider’s ...
