Monitoring and Analysis of Prestress Loss in Prestressed Box Girder Bridges Strengthened with External Prestressing

open access: yesSensors
To investigate the effects of long-term prestress loss on concrete box girders strengthened with external prestressing, a large-span box girder, in service for over 20 years and strengthened with external prestressing, was monitored for four months ...

Disorder‐Broadened Topological Hall Phase and Anomalous Hall Scaling in FeGe

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
By systematically introducing defects into FeGe via ion‐beam modification, we demonstrate that disorder broadens the temperature regime over which the topological Hall effect ‐ a signature of skyrmions or other chiral textures — appears, while also increasing its magnitude.

Determination of Vertical Deflection Based on Terestrial Gravity Disturbance Data (A Case Study in Semarang City) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Vertical deflection can be determined by geometrical and physical measurement. In geometrical way, vertical deflection is obtained by comparing astronomical coordinate and geodetical coordinate.

Research on deep and thick topsoil wellbore monitoring and its deflection laws

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan
In order to study the deflection and deformation law of vertical shafts in deep and thick topsoil layer, the main and secondary shafts of Shandong Guotun Coal Mine are taken as the examples, and the wireline baseline method is adopted to carry out multi ...

Using the rapid graphic method in determining the vertical deflections in High Tatras [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 2005
In mountains regions, the effect of vertical deflections appreciably exceeds the accuracy of most geodetic measurements and causes systematic errors of some cm per km at steep sightings.

Sky‐Directional Radiative Cooling Meta‐Films for Daylighting Windows

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A geometry‐mediated microprism meta‐film enables transparent, sky‐directional radiative cooling for daylighting windows. By decoupling control of visible transmittance from mid‐infrared emissivity, ground‐emitted heat absorption is suppressed while skyward heat dissipation is enhanced.

Bone‐Inspired Recyclable Composites for Damage‐Tolerant Circular Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bone‐inspired architected composites are developed by combining osteon‐like reinforcements with a recyclable Elium thermoplastic matrix. The hierarchical architecture redirects cracks and promotes energy dissipation, while enabling recovery of intact, aligned, load‐bearing reinforcement units that retain their original stiffness, revealing a route ...

Unified Phase‐Field Framework for Antiferroelectric, Ferroelectric and Dielectric Phases: Application to HZO Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
HfxZr1−xO2${\rm Hf}_x{\rm Zr}_{1-x}{\rm O}_2$ offers CMOS‐compatible nanoscale ferroelectricity yet suffers from a high Ec${\rm E}_c$ demanding large operating voltages. A unified phase‐field framework spanning AFE/FE/DE phases shows how FE grains soften neighboring AFE grains over λ$\lambda$ ≈$\approx$ 22–37 nm.

Construction control of rigid frame-continuous girder bridge based on grey theory

open access: yesJournal of Engineering and Applied Science
To address the issue of excessive mid-span deflection in rigid frame-continuous girder bridges during the later stages of normal use and to provide a basis for setting the pre-camber of this bridge type.

Engineered Nanotopography to Modulate Growth and Signaling of Neuronal Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the interaction between neurons and nanoscale topographies on engineered substrates. Neurons cultured on nanowires, nanopillars and nanoneedles exhibit enhanced neurite outgrowth, form more organized neuronal circuits, and display improved synaptic connectivity, compared to flat substrates.
