Large deflection of a simply supported beam

open access: yes, 2010
The large deflection of a simply-supported beam loaded in the middle is a classic problem in mechanics which has been studied by many people who have implemented different methods to determine the solution, such as analytical exact solutions and the ...

Vertical Deflection from Dip Observation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Needless to say, knowledge about vertical deflection is indispensable to research in geodesy and geology. Around a small island, for example a volcanic islet, we may expect a certain amount of vertical deflection due to the attraction of the island and ...

Strong Lead‐Free Bioinspired Piezoceramics for Durable Energy Transducers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We fabricated brick‐and‐mortar lead‐free piezoceramics with Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 monocrystal platelets as bricks and amorphous silica as mortar. The alignment of the bricks and the presence of the amorphous silica led to anisotropic residual stresses. These residual stresses increase the samples toughness, strength and durability while the brick alignment ...
