Additive Manufacturing of Alumina‐Reinforced Elastomers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Vat‐photopolymerized elastomers reinforced with platelet‐shaped alumina exhibited preferential orientation, reduced porosity, and significantly enhanced mechanical performance. A 3 wt% platelet loading increased tensile strength from 12.4 to 45.7 MPa, highlighting the critical role of filler morphology in elastomeric VPP composites.

Interaction of Composite Material-Based Geopolymer with Soil in Road Pavement using Finite Element Method

open access: yesRekayasa Sipil
Geopolymer is an eco-friendly binder derived from natural or artificial precursors such as fly ash and slag. The purpose of this research is to investigate the response of Recycled Concrete Aggregate (RCA) with Geobead (GB) filler based geopolymer to ...

On the astrogeodetic deflections of the vertical in Japan.

open access: yesJournal of Physics of the Earth, 1974
With respect to the observed astrogeodetic deflections of the vertical at 192 stations in Japan except Hokkaido, the topographic-isostatic eflections are estimated and then the error in the Japanese system of geodetic coordinates are examined in details.

Distinct Microstructural Characteristic Lengths Defining Notch Fatigue Crack Initiation and Propagation, and Defect Tolerance in Advanced Steels

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of modes of microcrack nucleation, growth and temporary arrestment at different boundaries, with the criteria for crack propagation in three scenarios: (1) large notch, (2) defect/small sharp notch, and (3) long crack. This work revisits and integrates results on the fatigue behavior of advanced bainitic steels (in particular ...

Deflection Calculation and Dynamic Detection of Non-Uniform Beam via Multi-Point Strain Measurement for Freight Trains

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In railway freight transport, the vertical deflection of the load-carrying beam on well-hole car accounts for most clearance intrusions at the bottom when running on curves. This paper proposed a deflection calculation and detection method via in-transit

Različni postopki za izračun odklonov navpičnice: primer območja pod Krvavcem ( = Different aspects of the computation of vertical deflection: case study in the area of Krvavec) [PDF]

open access: yesGeodetski Vestnik, 2018
In coordinate calculation from terrestrial measurements, the reduction due to the Earth's gravity field should be one of the main topics of consideration. The problem is of extreme importance especially in steep areas, where geoid surface is not parallel

Uniform Amorphization of Crystalline Silicon Surfaces Enabled by Deep Ultraviolet Femtosecond Laser Pulses

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Deep‐UV (258 nm) femtosecond pulses enable uniform amorphous silicon writing on Si(100)/(111) with a six‐fold larger fluence amorphization window than NIR methods. Optimized fluence and overlap yield 20–45 nm uniform and continuous amorphous layers. Microscopy shows sharp interfaces, and real‐time reflectivity reveals nanosecond melt–resolidification ...

Enhanced Ultrasound Transmission Through Aberration Layers Using Space‐Coiling Acoustic Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Enhancing ultrasound transmission through an aberration layer exhibiting mismatched impedance with the surrounding medium possesses great implications in imaging and treatment. In this study, we show that a space‐coiling acoustic metamaterial with judiciously tailored structural profile can help improve impedance matching.

Light-touch2 : a laser-based solution for the deflection, manipulation and exploitation of small asteroids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper presents the preliminary mission and system analysis of a small-scale, light-weight system for the deflection, manipulation and exploitation of small size asteroids. The system proposed in this paper, called Light-Touch2, uses lasers to ablate
