Skyline Processing on Distributed Vertical Decompositions

IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, 2013
We assume a data set that is vertically decomposed among several servers, and a client that wishes to compute the skyline by obtaining the minimum number of points. Existing solutions for this problem are restricted to the case where each server maintains exactly one dimension.

Distributed simulation of coloring graph vertices

[1991] Proceedings of the 24th Annual Simulation Symposium, 1991
The problem of coloring graph vertices, known to be NP-complete, is discussed. The authors present an alternative solution to this problem as a distributed simulation which uses a parallel randomized heuristic algorithm for making local decisions to color graph vertices.

Vertical Distribution

Abstract The Chapter deals with the approaches of the Finance Commissions in dealing with vertical imbalances arising out of mismatches between revenue raising powers and expenditure responsibilities. In the first phase covering the First to Tenth Commissions, only two Union taxes were shareable with the States, namely, income tax and

The vertical distribution of Culicoides impunctatus larvae

Medical and Veterinary Entomology, 1997
Abstract. Soil cores were taken from three transects, representing the vegetation typical of much of the west coast and Highlands of Scotland, in an attempt to investigate the distribution of Culicoides impunctatus larvae.

Vertical integration in distributed automation environment

e & i Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik, 2006
Over past decades industrial IT evolved separately in the field automation and office automation domains. Nowadays increasing complexity of manufacturing requires more advanced control, which can be achieved only by integrating these, formerly separated, areas.

Distribution and Vertical Control

2014
Modern distribution systems in American business developed in the first half of the twentieth century, largely in spite of rather than because of the legal regime. No broad consensus about the economic effects of vertical integration had been developed, and economic opinion varied widely, from harmful and monopolistic to harmless and efficient.

Modeling the vertical distribution of carbendazim in sediments

Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, 2000
AbstractThe sorption, fate, and vertical distribution of the fungicide Derosal ® with active ingredient carbendazim in sediments were investigated in indoor freshwater microcosms. Carbendazim penetration in the sediment was measured as a function of time and depth. Freundlich sorption parameters were determined by batchwise equilibration of carbendazim

Vertical distribution of Culicoides larvae and pupae

Medical and Veterinary Entomology, 2006
Abstract This study was carried out in the northeast region of Konya in Turkey, between April and December 2004, to determine the vertical distribution of Culicoides (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) larvae and pupae.
