Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Identified through the use of statistical design of experiments and metallographic investigation, this study exposes the stochastic origins of intergranular cracks in blown powder laser beam directed energy deposition additive manufacturing of pure molybdenum. It further demonstrates a successful crack mitigation approach with direct correlation to the

A Lightweight Procedural Layer for Hybrid Experimental–Computational Workflows in Materials Science
We unveil a prototype hybrid‐workflow framework that fuses automatedcomputation with hands‐on experiments. Built atop pyiron, a lightweight, parameterized layer translates procedure descriptions into executable manual steps, syncing instrument settings, human interventions, and data capture in real‐time today.

Exploring a better turbine layout in vertically staggered wind farms
Vertical staggering of wind turbines can lead to an increased power production in the entrance region of a wind farm because downstream turbines are consequently outside the wakes of preceding turbines. We perform large eddy simulations of different vertically staggered wind farm configurations for which we keep the average turbine hub height the same.

The use of genetic algorithms to maximize the performance of a partially lined screened room [PDF]
This paper shows that it is possible to use genetic algorithms to optimize the layout of ferrite tile absorber in a partially lined screened enclosure to produce a "best" performance.

Demonstration of an All‐Optical AND Gate Mediated by Photochromic Molecules
A logic AND gate that runs on photons is demonstrated. It relies on two spatially separated photochromic molecules that work in tandem. Abstract The realization of a photonic logic AND gate, i.e. a logic AND gate that runs on photons rather than electrons, and where all steps are controlled by light, is demonstrated. In a proof‐of‐principle experiment,

Generation of Dimensioned Floor Plans for a Given Boundary Layout [PDF]
In literature, the generation of floor plans has mainly been confined to dimensionless floor plans with rectangular boundaries having no open spaces within the floor plan. In this paper, the user is allowed to construct a dimensioned boundary using slant,
