Suffering from structural deterioration and natural disasters, the resilience of civil structures in the face of extreme loadings inevitably drops, which may lead to catastrophic structural failure and presents great threats to public safety.

Temporal Activity Modulation of Deep Very Low Frequency Earthquakes in Shikoku, Southwest Japan [PDF]
AbstractWe investigated long‐term changes in the activity of deep very low frequency earthquakes (VLFEs) in western Shikoku, southwest part of the Nankai subduction zone in Japan for 13 years by the matched‐filter technique. VLFE activity is expected to be a proxy of interplate slips.

Pengembangan Sensor Koil Datar 3-D untuk Deteksi Gempa Dini di Wilayah Lombok
In this study, a flat coil application as a three-dimensional (3-D) vibration sensor for early detection of earthquake is designed to detect earthquakes in Lombok Island. Flat coil is a very thin winding wire and is used as an inductor.

Very low frequency earthquakes within accretionary prisms are very low stress‐drop earthquakes
We report characteristic P wave spectra and stress drops of very low frequency (VLF) earthquakes that occurred within the accretionary prism along the Nankai Trough, southwestern Japan. Although many VLF earthquakes showed no distinct phases on a raw seismogram, a few showed slightly distinct phases.

Influence of Geometric Design on Mechanical Performance of Auxetic Metastructure
Strategic geometric reinforcement transforms auxetic performance. This study evaluates 3D‐printed arrowhead metastructures, revealing that a modified design with local ring reinforcement suppresses premature failure to achieve superior energy absorption and structural efficiency.
