A new method for deducing the effective collision frequency profile in the D-region [PDF]
A method based on linear regularization is presented for the deduction of the effective collision frequency profile in the D-region using an incoherent scatter radar and a colocated riometer.

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...

Temporal analysis of the least energetic events in pulsar data from observations with the high energy stereoscopic system [PDF]
It has been more than 60 years since astronomers turned their attention towards the 7֊ray window (> 100 TeV). Nowadays, 7֊ray astronomy has won its place as a separate branch of astronomy in its own right.

Searching for synchrotron emission from the geminga TeV halo using the planck satellite
Pulsars convert a significant fraction of their total spin-down power into very high-energy electrons, leading to the formation of TeV halos. While these halos are well characterized at TeV energies, it remains unclear whether pulsars also accelerate ...

Performance Analysis of Abradable Coating Systems for Aircraft Gas Turbines
Three CoNiCrAlY/YSZ/MgAl2O4 abradable liner configurations on a nickel‐superalloy are evaluated by thermal‐gradient cycling and incursion tests. Laser ablation of the bondcoat and/or Y2O3‐stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) intermediate layer increases mechanical interlocking and bonding for thick topcoats.

An evaluation of very high energy electron beams (up to 250 MeV) in radiation therapy [PDF]
The purpose of this study was to evaluate very high energy electron beams in radiation therapy. Radiation therapy for cancer treatment has evolved towards increased radiation dose conformality on a targeted volume.

Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.
