High-resolution maps of the characteristic energy of precipitating auroral particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
For the first time we produce high-resolution maps of the characteristic energy of precipitating electrons from ground-based instrumentation in the auroral zone over northern Scandinavia. This is done by combining intensity-calibrated optical data at 557.

Calibration and Performance of the CMS Electromagnetic Calorimeter in LHC Run2 [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2020
Many physics analyses using the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector at the LHC require accurate, high resolution electron and photon energy measurements.

Focused VHEE (very high energy electron) beams and dose delivery for radiotherapy applications [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
AbstractThis paper presents the first demonstration of deeply penetrating dose delivery using focused very high energy electron (VHEE) beams using quadrupole magnets in Monte Carlo simulations. We show that the focal point is readily modified by linearly changing the quadrupole magnet strength only.

Radiative corrections to very high energy electron-proton scattering

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 1981
Abstract A “leading log” analysis of radiative corrections to inclusive ep scattering at HERA energies is presented. Neutral current weak interactions are considered at the level of the Born cross section as well as of the modifications of vertex and vacuum polarization parts.

Ionization Loss near the Origin of an Electron Pair of Very High Energy [PDF]

open access: yesProgress of Theoretical Physics, 1957
Ionization loss of negatron-positron pair is calculated as a function of their distance. This resudt will be usefud to measure the energy of a gamma ray above 10/sup 10/ ev from the reduction of ionization near the origin of the created pair. The reduction is due to the interference between the electromagnetic field of negatron and that of positron.

Density and temperature of energetic electrons in the Earth's magnetotail derived from high-latitude GPS observations during the declining phase of the solar cycle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Single relativistic-Maxwellian fits are made to high-latitude GPS-satellite observations of energetic electrons for the period January 2006-November 2010; a constellation of 12 GPS space vehicles provides the observations. The derived fit parameters (for

Deep Seated Tumour Treatments With Electrons of High Energy Delivered at FLASH Rates: The Example of Prostate Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2021
Different therapies are adopted for the treatment of deep seated tumours in combination or as an alternative to surgical removal or chemotherapy: radiotherapy with photons (RT), particle therapy (PT) with protons or even heavier ions like 12C, are now ...

Electron loss rates from the outer radiation belt caused by the filling of the outer plasmasphere: The calm before the storm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Measurements from seven spacecraft in geosynchronous orbit are analyzed to determine the decay rate of the number density of the outer electron radiation belt prior to the onset of high-speed-stream-driven geomagnetic storms.
