Frequency response of vestibular reflexes in neck, back, and lower limb muscles [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Neurophysiology, 2013
Vestibular pathways form short-latency disynaptic connections with neck motoneurons, whereas they form longer-latency disynaptic and polysynaptic connections with lower limb motoneurons.

Relationship between vestibular hair cell loss and deficits in two anti-gravity reflexes in the rat. [PDF]

open access: yesHearing Research, 2021
The tail-lift reflex and the air-righting reflex in rats are anti-gravity reflexes that depend on vestibular function. To begin identifying their cellular basis, this study examined the relationship between reflex loss and the graded lesions caused in ...

Vestibular projections

Neurology, 2016
Vestibular function is mainly assessed through its reflex action, particularly on the eyes. However, cognitive/perceptual effects are also recognized, which are likely to be mediated by projections to the cortex via the thalamus. JC,1 for example, who documented his own loss of vestibular function due to streptomycin, while much disturbed by ...

Models of sensorimotor transformations and vestibular reflexes

Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, 1988
The vestibulo-ocular and vestibulo-collic reflexes are well-studied sensorimotor systems with dynamic properties that have been successfully modeled. Recently proposed matrix and tensorial models attempt to describe the spatial organization of these reflexes in three dimensions. Here we describe experiments that test these models.
