Dynamic properties of vestibular reflexes in the decerebrate cat

Experimental Brain Research, 1982
Vestibulocollic (VCR) and vestibulo-ocular (VOR) reflexes were studied during angular rotation in the horizontal plane in precollicular decerebrate cats. Angular position was modulated by sinusoids or sums of sinusoids with frequencies ranging from 0.05 to 5 Hz.

Chronic Vestibulo-Ocular Reflexes Evoked by a Vestibular Prosthesis

IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering, 2007
We are developing prosthetics for patients suffering from peripheral vestibular dysfunction. We tested a sensory-replacement prosthesis that stimulates neurons innervating the vestibular system by providing chronic pulsatile stimulation to electrodes placed in monkeys' lateral semicircular canals, which were plugged bilaterally, and used head angular ...

Visual and vestibular determinants of the translational vestibulo‐ocular reflex

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2011
Prior studies indicate that the human translational vestibulo‐ocular reflex (tVOR) generates eye rotations approximately half the magnitude required to keep the line of sight pointed at a stationary object—a compensation ratio (CR) of ∼0.5. We asked whether changes of visual or vestibular stimuli could increase the CR of tVOR.

[The characteristic of vestibular ocular reflex in patients with vestibular migraine].

Lin chuang er bi yan hou tou jing wai ke za zhi = Journal of clinical otorhinolaryngology head and neck surgery, 2018
Objective:Analysis of vestibular ocular reflex (VOR) in patients with vestibular migraine (VM) by vestibular autorotation test (VAT). To explore the clinical value of VAT technology in the diagnosis of vestibular migraine.Method:Sixty-nine patients with VM, 73 patients with posterior circulation (PCI) vertigo and 65 normal people were examined by VAT ...

Effects of orbital space flight on vestibular reflexes and perception

Acta Astronautica, 1995
We have considered the complex adaptive process of human spatial orientation in terms of a time varying optimal estimator (Borah et al., 1978,1988, Merfeld et al., 1993). According to this view, the brain is constantly attempting to make the best possible guess about where we are in the presence of parallel, at times conflicting, cues from the various ...

Voronov glasses for vestibular reflex diagnostics

Russian Otorhinolaryngology, 2018
The article presents a device developed at the Chair of Otorhinolaryngology of the FSBI HVI North- Western State Medical University named after I. I. Mechnikov, providing the examination of vestibular system for registration of vestibulo-ocular reflex with the removal of fixation suppression.
