Potencial evocado miogênico vestibular a baixas frequências de estimulação Vestibular evoked myogenic potentials using low frequency stimuli

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Otorhinolaryngology, 2011
Os potenciais evocados miogênicos vestibulares são reflexos vestíbulo-cervicais, decorrentes da estimulação do sáculo com sons de forte intensidade.

AAVR Expression is Essential for AAV Vector Transduction in Sensory Hair Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Decreased sensitivity to AAV vector transduction in the outer hair cells (OHCs) of adult mice is primarily attributed to reduction of AAVR (Kiaa0319l; Au040320). Knockout of AAVR reduces AAV vector transduction efficiency in both inner hair cells (IHCs) and OHCs in neonatal mice.

Clean Cut (adaptive, multimodal surgical infection prevention programme) for low‐resource settings: a prospective quality improvement study

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), EarlyView., 2020
Clean Cut is a multimodal, adaptive, checklist‐based infection prevention programme designed to improve compliance with six critical perioperative infection prevention practices. After introducing the programme at five hospitals in Ethiopia, compliance with critical infection prevention standards significantly improved and the relative risk of ...

The effect of noise exposure on the vestibular systems of dental technicians

open access: yesNoise and Health, 2019
Background: Noise exposure is the primary cause of acquired hearing loss in several occupational settings, including dental laboratories and clinics. However, the impact of noise exposure on the vestibular system is not as well researched.

Single Administration of AAV‐mAtp6v1b2 Gene Therapy Rescues Hearing and Vestibular Disorders Caused by Atp6v1b2‐Induced Lysosomal Dysfunction in Hair Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Wei et al. establish a hair cell‐specific conditional knockout mouse model (Atp6v1b2fl/fl;Atoh1Cre/+), and demonstrate the importance of Atp6v1b2 for hair cell through maintaining the survival of lysosomes. A single administration of AAV‐ie‐Eh3‐mAtp6v1b2 through scala media at P0‐P2 realizes function compensation and restores hearing and balance ...

Inhibitor binding mode and allosteric regulation of Na+-glucose symporters. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Sodium-dependent glucose transporters (SGLTs) exploit sodium gradients to transport sugars across the plasma membrane. Due to their role in renal sugar reabsorption, SGLTs are targets for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.

Long‐Lasting Auditory and Vestibular Recovery Following Gene Replacement Therapy in a Novel Usher Syndrome Type 1c Mouse Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that gene replacement therapy using the AAV2/Anc80L65 virus can successfully restore hearing and balance in Ush1c knockout mice. The treatment leads to lasting improvements in both auditory and vestibular functions, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic approach for genetic hearing loss and vestibular disorders in humans ...

A Study of Relationship between the Acoustic Sensitivity of Vestibular System and the Ability to Trigger Sound-Evoked Muscle Reflex of the Middle Ear in Adults with Normal Hearing

open access: yesپزشکی بالینی ابن سینا, 2014
Introduction & Objective: The vestibular system is sound sensitive and the sensitivity is related to the saccule. The vestibular afferents are projected to the middle ear muscles (such as the stapedius).
