Ising spins on the labyrinth [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 5th International Conference on Quasicrystals, edited by C. Janot and R. Mosseri, World Scientific, Singapore (1995), pp. 80-83, 1999
We consider a zero-field Ising model defined on a quasiperiodic graph, the so-called Labyrinth tiling. Exact information about the critical behaviour is obtained from duality arguments and the subclass of models which yield commuting transfer matrices.

Anatomy of the transmastoid endolymphatic sac decompression in the management of Ménière’s disease. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Ménière’s disease affects 1 in 1000 people and produces vertigo and hearing loss (Morrison, 1981). Endolymphatic sac decompression has been advocated on the basis that endolymphatic hydrops is the underlying pathology.

Lost Again in Shibuya: Exploration and Awareness in a Labyrinth [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Existing digital technologies in urban settings tend to focus narrowly on concerns around wayfinding, safety, and consumption. In this paper, we examine pedestrian experiences based on the data collected through field observations as well as intensive interviews with nine pedestrians in the Shibuya area of Tokyo, and suggest an alternative approach to ...

From localized spot to the formation of invaginated labyrinth structures in spatially extended systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
The stability of a circular localized spot with respect to azimuthal perturbations is studied in in a variational Swift-Hohenberg model equation. The conditions under which the circular shape undergoes an elliptical deformation that transform it into a rod shape structure are analyzed.

Labyrinth Chaos is not Hamiltonian but still has a Vector Potential [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We provide here a comprehensive proof that the so-called Labyrinth chaos systems, a member of the Thomas-R\"ossler (TR) class of systems do not admit a Hamiltonian; yet they admit a vector potential. The proof starts from the general case of TR systems, which are in general non-conservative and we show that this is also true for the conservative ...

The Microvascular Architecture of the Vestibule and the Endolymphatic Duct and Sac of the Rat in Vascular Corrosion Casts [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
The blood vessels of the vestibule and the endolymphatic duct and sac (ES) of the rat were reproduced with methacrylate casting medium and observed under a scanning electron microscope.

Effect of Intratympanic Gentamicin Therapy in Meniere’s disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
INTRODUCTION: Prosper Meniere was the first person to describe the symptoms of Meniere’s disease in1861. He proposed that the pathologic locus was in the labyrinth. Meniere’s disease is a disorder of the inner ear.

Adaptive Nonlinear Model Predictive Control for a Real-World Labyrinth Game [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We present a nonlinear non-convex model predictive control approach to solving a real-world labyrinth game. We introduce adaptive nonlinear constraints, representing the non-convex obstacles within the labyrinth. Our method splits the computation-heavy optimization problem into two layers; first, a high-level model predictive controller which ...
