Optimizing Cochlear Implant Position for Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Vestibular Schwannoma

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 10, Issue 6, December 2025.
We retrospectively reviewed nine CI recipients treated for vestibular schwannoma, comparing conventional versus alternative (more vertical, farther) receiver/magnet placement, and related postoperative inner ear/IAC visibility on MRI to 3D‐CT measurements of magnet‐to‐EAC/IAC distances and the nasion–EAC–magnet angle.

Electron Microscopy and Multi‐Omics Reveal Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Structural Remodeling in the Hearts of Elderly Mice

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 12, December 2025.
Integrated multi‐omics mapping of cardiac aging reveals mitochondrial dysfunction, profibrotic reprogramming, and lipotoxicity as key drivers of myocardial decline. A comprehensive spatial and molecular analysis of mouse hearts across aging (12, 24, and 30 months) uncovers coordinated disruptions in gene expression, protein homeostasis, and lipid ...

Antimicrobial prescribing guidelines for horses in Australia

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, Volume 103, Issue 12, Page 781-889, December 2025.
The growing problem of antimicrobial resistance also affects equine veterinarians with increasing frequency. Antimicrobial stewardship and responsible prescribing are essential for a future in which effective antimicrobials are available, as it is unlikely that new antimicrobials will become available for use in horses.

Mutations in the Key Autophagy Tethering Factor EPG5 Link Neurodevelopmental and Neurodegenerative Disorders Including Early‐Onset Parkinsonism

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, Volume 98, Issue 5, Page 932-950, November 2025.
Objective Autophagy is a fundamental biological pathway with vital roles in intracellular homeostasis. During autophagy, defective cargoes including mitochondria are targeted to lysosomes for clearance and recycling. Recessive truncating variants in the autophagy gene EPG5 have been associated with Vici syndrome, a severe early‐onset neurodevelopmental

Brain‐Wide Patterns of CRF Receptor 1 Expression in the Transgenic CRFR1‐Cre‐2a‐tdTom Rat

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Neurology, Volume 533, Issue 11, November 2025.
In this article, we provide an extensive neuroanatomical characterization of a recently generated CRFR1‐Cre‐2A‐tdTomato rat. We show that Cre and tdTomato are expressed in a pattern that closely aligns with previously reported CRFR1 expression patterns.
