Analysis of behaviour of vehicles using VGI data

International Journal of Geographical Information Science, 2016
This article describes a methodology for analysing the behaviour of vehicles on roads using data obtained from Volunteered Geographic Information and more specifically from GNSS traces. These data have a great potential for this goal due to their distribution, continuity and anonymity.

Mapping Trusted Paths to VGI

2021
We propose a novel method of assessing OpenStreetMap data using the concept of Data Maturity. Based on research into data quality and trust in user generated content, this is a set of measurements that can be derived from provenance data extracted from OpenStreetMap edit history.

VGI in the Geoweb

2017
The advent of user-generated content, crowdsourcing and other forms of lay data generation have led to opposing arguments about the quality and reliability of data in the geoweb,. The main focus of this chapter is an ‘experiment' to test the quality, validity and lay monitoring of volunteered geographic information (VGI) data.

Quality Attributes and Methods for VGI

2016
The widespread use of GPS-equipped devices such as smartphones and tablets and the easy handling of online maps are simplifying the production and dissemination of volunteered geographic information (VGI) through the internet. VGI systems collect and distribute this type of information and can be used, for example, in cases of natural disasters ...

Virtual geographic information system (VGIS)

1994
The implementation and proficient use of GISs has become so complicated that it is growing towards a domain in itself. The "Virtual GIS" (VGIS) aims at the use of the "knowledge base" that is inherent in a GIS for the automatic interpretation of remotely sensed images.
