Rethinking operational VGOS observations

open access: yes
The VLBI Global Observing System (VGOS) was created to meet the ambitious requirements set by the Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS). Its primary objective is achieving millimeter-level precision while maintaining continuous 24/7 observations. Currently, both aims remain unfulfilled.

A Comparative Survey of Adaptive Codec Solutions for VoIP over Multirate WLANs: A Capacity versus Quality Performance Trade-Off

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2011
In multi-rate WLANs, users can suffer transmission rate changes due to the link adaptation mechanism. This results in a variable capacity channel, which is very hostile for VoIP and can cause serious quality of service (QoS) degradation in all active ...

An Experiment to Observe GNSS Signals with the Australian VGOS Array

open access: yesPublications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific
Abstract This paper introduces a new instrument enabling a novel combination of Earth measuring techniques: direct observations with the radio astronomical instruments to satellites of the global navigation satellite systems (GNSS). Inter-technique biases are a major error source in the terrestrial reference frame.
