Mixed signal behavioral verification using VHDL-AMS
Research in Microelectronics and Electronics, 2005 PhD, 2005In this paper we describe a methodology to set up a behavioral verification for complex mixed-signal System-on-Chip (SoC). The verification flow, consisting in VHDL-AMS modeling of the analog and mixed-signal section of a generic system, is depicted. This methodology has been successfully adopted for the top level debugging of a mixed signal SoC for ...

Distributed electrothermal modeling in VHDL-AMS
Proceedings of the 2003 IEEE International Workshop on Behavioral Modeling and Simulation, 2004We demonstrate how to apply VHDL-AMS to modelling a coupled distributed electrothermal problem. We present an example of a simple system where two resistors on top of a silicon substrate are thermally coupled. Thermal exchange is described with a heat balance equation discretized and solved using finite difference method.

Monte Carlo Simulation Using VHDL-AMS
2005Monte Carlo simulation is widely used in Spice-like circuit simulators. It allows to obtain statistical information derived from estimates of the random variability of circuit parameters. Multiple simulation runs are carried out with different sets of parameters. VHDL-AMS provides flexible possibilities to specify nominal and tolerance values and their

Parallel simulation of VHDL-AMS models
Proceedings of the IEEE 1998 National Aerospace and Electronics Conference. NAECON 1998. Celebrating 50 Years (Cat. No.98CH36185), 2002VHDL-AMS simulation is a compute intensive activity, particularly for large models, which motivates the development and use of approaches for accelerating the simulation process. An approach that is showing some promise is to execute the simulator in parallel on a distributed computer.

Behavioral modeling languages can be used in different steps of top-down design and bottom-up verification of MEMS design. The available language facilities of VHDL-AMS and the requirements of the applied methods in this process are confronted. Especially the application of Kirchhoffian networks to model 3D movements is taken into account.

Mixed Mode Modelling by VHDL-AMS
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2000Abstract The two solutions are used for mixed mode modelling: the system level modelling and the transistor level one. The both approaches are used through analogue-mixed signal designing. The VHDL-AMS (VHDL - Analogue & Mixed Signals) supplements the sequential and concurrent statements of VHDL-I076 with a new class of language statements for ...

Mixed-mode system design: VHDL-AMS
Microelectronic Engineering, 2000This paper presents the features of the new IEEE standard hardware description language based on VHDL and commonly called VHDL-AMS. The language is presented through some examples, which show what are the bases to understand and write VHDL-AMS descriptions (equations and unknowns, and also some Analog/Digital interactions), but also some advanced ...

Virtual prototyping with VHDL-AMS
IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2003, 2004All the abstraction levels of VHDL-AMS, properly used, would allow designing a whole system without using physical prototype. The virtual prototyping could replace physical prototyping, only the last prototype has to be fabricated. Work has to be done by using description modelling and predictive modelling of objects under study and by using modelling ...

VHDL-AMS subset for HB simulation
2004 14th International Crimean Conference "Microwave and Telecommunication Technology" (IEEE Cat. No.04EX843), 2004This report shows that there is limited subset of VHDL-AMS, which is sufficient to describe pure analog circuits and to propose a simple VHDL-AMS extension to get the advantages of frequency-domain modeling and simulation. That makes possible the usage of the described VHDL-AMS subset as modeling language for the harmonic balance simulator.
