Classification via Minimum Incremental Coding Length

SIAM Journal on Imaging Sciences, 2009
Summary: We present a simple new criterion for classification, based on principles from lossy data compression. The criterion assigns a test sample to the class that uses the minimum number of additional bits to code the test sample, subject to an allowable distortion.

Classification via sequential testing

2020
CLASSIFICATION VIA SEQUENTIAL TESTING Abstract The problem of generating the sequence of tests required to reach a diagnos tic conclusion with minimum average cost, which is also known as test sequencing problem, is considered. The test sequencing problem is formulated as an optimal binary AND/OR decision tree construction problem, whose solution is ...

Gender Classification via Gradientfaces

2010
In this paper illumination invariant, pose and facial expression tolerant gender classification method is proposed. A recently introduced feature extraction method, namely Gradientfaces, is utilized together with Support Vector Machine (SVM) as a classifier.

Weighted Nearest Neighbor Classification via Maximizing Classification Consistency

2010
The nearest neighbor classification is a simple and effective technique for pattern recognition. The performance of this technique is known to be sensitive to the distance function used in classifying a test instance. In this paper, we propose a technique to learn sample weights via maximizing classification consistency.

Hamiltonian Identification via Quantum Ensemble Classification

IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems
Identifying the Hamiltonian of an unknown quantum system is a critical task in the area of quantum information. In this article, we propose a systematic Hamiltonian identification approach via quantum ensemble multiclass classification (HI-QEMC). This approach is implemented by a three-step iterative refining process, i.e., parameter interval guess ...
