Linking Vibrational Dynamics to Local Electronic Structure: Local Analysis of Dynamics of the relaxed Si$_{87}$ Cluster [PDF]
A flexible scheme for decomposing the vibrational density of states in terms of pair vibrational density of states is presented. This scheme provides the linkage between the site vibrational density of states and pair vibrational density of states so that vibrational modes, in particular localized modes, can be conveniently examined in terms of the ...

The effect of controlled vibrations on the width boundary layers during crystal growth by the Bridgman method [PDF]
By using the finite element code ASTRA, the effect of vibrations on the melt flow in Bridgman crystal growth is investigated for the Earth and Space gravity conditions. It is found that the vibrations significantly decrease the width of interfacial boundary layers in Bridgman crystal growth with submerged vibrator.

Skyrmion Vibration Modes within the Rational Map Ansatz [PDF]
We study the vibration modes of the Skyrme model within the rational map ansatz. We show that the vibrations of the radial profiles and the rational maps are decoupled and we consider explicitly the case B=1, B=2 and B=4. We then compare our results with the vibration modes obtained numerically by Barnes et al.

Temporal power modulation increases weld depth in high‐power laser beam welding of dissimilar round bars by nearly 20% compared to same average continuously welded welding power. The mechanism of action also applies to sheet welding and depends on the inertia of keyhole depth for the modulated laser beam power.

Low-frequency vibrations of water molecules in minor groove of the DNA double helix [PDF]
The dynamics of the structured water molecules in the hydration shell of the DNA double helix is of paramount importance for the understanding of many biological mechanisms. In particular, the vibrational dynamics of a water spine that is formed in the DNA minor groove is the aim of the present study.

Definition and Quantification of Shock/Impact/Transient Vibrations [PDF]
Vibration injury in the hand-arm system from hand-held machines is one of the most common occupational health injuries and causes severe and often chronic nerve and vascular injury to the operator. Machines emitting shock vibrations, e.g., impact wrenches have since long been identified as a special risk factor.

This article examines the effect of postprocessing heat treatment on 316L stainless steel (SS316L) produced via laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). Heat treatment slightly affects property anisotropy, reduces strength, and enhances elongation. However, it increases corrosion susceptibility due to nanoscale precipitations, though overall corrosion ...

Coherent Ro-vibrational Revivals in a Thermal Molecular Ensemble [PDF]
We report an experimental and theoretical study of the evolution of vibrational coherence in a thermal ensemble of nitrogen molecules. Rotational dephasing and rephasing of the vibrational coherence is detected by coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering. The existence of ro-vibrational coupling and the discrete energy spectrum of the rotational bath lead

QCT study of the vibrational and translational role in the CN(v) + C2H6(ν1, ν2, ν5 and ν9) reactions [PDF]
Quasi-classical trajectory (QCT) calculations were conducted on the newly developed full-dimensional potential energy surface, PES-2023, to analyse two critical aspects: the influence of vibrational versus translational energy in promoting reactivity, and the impact of vibrational excitation within similar vibrational modes.
