Comparison of Raman spectra and vibrational density of states between graphene nanoribbons with different edges [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Vibrational properties of graphene nanoribbons are examined with density functional based tight-binding method and non-resonant bond polarization theory. We show that the recently discovered reconstructed zigzag edge can be identified from the emergence of high-energy vibrational mode due to strong triple bonds at the edges.

Elastic‐Wave Propagation in Chiral Metamaterials: A Couple‐Stress Theory Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The intrinsic chirality of chiral metamaterials renders an effective medium based on the classical continuum theory ineffective for predicting their acoustic activity. This limitation is addressed in the present study by employing augmented asymptotic homogenization to derive a couple‐stress‐based effective medium, enabling accurate predictions in the ...

Tribological characteristics and mechanism of nitrile butadiene rubber coated with typical liquid lubricants

open access: yesPolymer Testing, 2022
When marine stern shafts operate under low speed and heavy load conditions, the metal shaft and water-lubricated bearing will be in a state of boundary lubrication or even dry friction.

Rectangular Parallelepiped Vibration in Plane Strain State [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
In this paper we present a vibration spectrum of a homogenous parallelepiped (HP) under the action of volume and surface forces resulting from the exponent displacements entering the Fourier transforms. Vibration under the action of axial surface tractions and the free vibration are described separately.

Vibrational resonance: A review [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Reports, 2024, 1067, 1-62
Over the past two decades, vibrational resonance has garnered significant interest and evolved into a prominent research field. Classical vibrational resonance examines the response of a nonlinear system excited by two signals: a weak, slowly varying characteristic signal, and a fast-varying auxiliary signal.

Rheology of Weakly Vibrated Granular Media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We probe the rheology of weakly vibrated granular flows as function of flow rate, vibration strength and pressure by performing experiments in a vertically vibrated split-bottom shear cell. For slow flows, we establish the existence of a novel vibration dominated granular flow regime, where the driving stresses smoothly vanish as the driving rate is ...

Analysis of input impedance influence on calibration of charge conditioning amplifiers

open access: yesMeasurement: Sensors, 2021
This paper presents the updates implemented by the Vibration Laboratory of INMETRO on the electrical calibration of charge conditioning amplifiers. We can now carry out both standard classical calibrations with fixed in-series capacitors and including an
