Chiral Phase Change Nanomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates reversible, non‐volatile phase transitions in chiral Ge2${\rm Ge}_2$Sb2${\rm Sb}_2$Te5${\rm Te}_5$ (GST) nanohelices for high‐speed optical modulation of chirality and dynamic control of the state of polarization (SOP). The chiral nanostructures are fabricated using a highly directional, wafer‐scale physical vapor deposition ...

Application of tuned liquid column ball damper (TLCBD) for improved vibration control performance of multi-storey structure.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Tuned liquid column ball damper (TLCBD) is a passive control device used for controlling the building vibrations induced from wind or earthquakes. TLCBD is a modified form of conventional tuned liquid column damper (TLCD).

Optical Signature of Moiré Superlattices Formed by Twisted SrTiO3 Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We discover optical signatures from bonded interfaces in twisted SrTiO3 moiré superlattices, including low‐frequency Raman vibrational modes and strong second‐harmonic generation, consistent with strong interlayer coupling inferred from cross‐sectional electron microscopy and ab initio calculations. ABSTRACT Moiré superlattices formed at the interfaces

Polarization Sensitivity of Chiral Manganese Halide Scintillators Enables High‐Resolution X‐Ray Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Highly luminescent chiral manganese halide crystals are synthesized using chiral ligands, and they exhibit dissymmetry factors up to 1.4 × 10−2 and show X‐ray detection scintillation capability with a light yield of 43 380 photons/MeV and a low detection limit of 0.05198 µGyair·s−1.

The influence of Rashig rings and the rheological properties of the liquid phase on the pressure drop at the bottom of a reciprocating plate column [PDF]

open access: yesHemijska Industrija, 2002
The pressure drop at the column bottom, filled with a Newtonian (distilled water) or non-Newtonian (aqueous solution of carboxymethylcellulose, sodium salt, CMC, 1 %) liquid, in the presence of Rashig rings, made of aluminum (0.8 cm in diameter ...

Two‐Photon Grayscale Lithography (2GL) of High Mechanical and Optical Quality 3D Silica Glass Microstructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two‐photon grayscale lithography (2GL) enables high‐speed and precise 3D printing of thermolyzed silica glass microstructures with optical‐grade surface quality, high quality factors, and mechanical strength utilizing a custom‐made pre‐glass resist based on polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) modified with a high‐sensitivity Norrish type II ...

Vibration reduction of traffic signal pole by dynamic absorber that generates electrical power

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2015
The authors propose an absorber that generates electrical power in order to not only suppress vibration but also get electrical energy when many traffic signal poles are oscillated by wind, traffic turbulence.

Vibration Condition Monitoring of Brickwork Columns

open access: yesJournal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control, 1997
This paper describes the development of a condition monitoring and analysis technique, based on the pulse echo and impulse excitation method, for brickwork structures. The method is applied to structural brickwork columns with different brick and mortar strength combinations.

Ultrafast Thermal Shock Synthesis of CuNiSnLa Medium‐Entropy Metallic Glass for Sustainable Nitrogen Fixation via Plasma‐Coupled Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces an ultrafast thermal shock strategy to synthesize a CuNiSnLa medium‐entropy metallic glass (MEMG). The rapid heating and cooling process generates a robust, highly active catalyst for electrocatalytic nitrate reduction to ammonia (NRA).
