The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1981In an air or gas spring having a metal cylinder with a rigid gas-tight closure at one end and a flexible convoluted diaphragm seal and piston at the other end, the piston has an inner floating member restrained vertically by hardened roller balls that ride in a hardened ball race and horizontally by elastomer spring material.
