Experimental investigation of the flow-induced vibration of a curved circular cylinder [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Experiments have been conducted to investigate the vortex-induced vibration (VIV) response of a rigid section of a curved circular cylinder. Two curved configurations, a concave and a convex, were tested regarding the direction of the flow, in addition ...

Fundamental study on bending vibration reduction with a test stand for magnetically levitated vehicles

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2017
Fundamental study on a method to reduce the primary bending vibration for magnetically levitated (maglev) vehicles is conducted. These vehicles composed of lightweight car bodies are subject to elastic vibration; therefore, reduction of bending vibration

Vehicle Dynamics and Train-Induced Ground Vibration—Theoretical Analyses and Simultaneous Vehicle, Track, and Soil Measurements

open access: yesVehicles, 2023
Ground vibrations near railway lines are generated by the forces that are acting between wheel and rail. It seems to be a straight forward assumption that the vehicle dynamics are important for the level and the frequencies of the excitation forces ...

Subjective response to seated fore-and-aft direction whole-body vibration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Subjective response to seated, fore-and-aft direction, whole-body vibration of the type experienced in automobiles was investigated. Fore-and-aft acceleration was measured at the seat guide of a small automobile when driving over two representative road ...

ENERGY MECHANISMS OF FREE VIBRATIONS AND RESONANCE IN ELASTIC BODIES

open access: yesPhysics, 2021
The mechanisms of natural oscillations and resonance are described, considering the peculiarities of the transformation of elastic and kinetic energy in the implementation of the law of conservation of energy in local and integral volumes of the body, using the concept of mechanics based on the concepts of space, time and energy.

Modeling and Simulation of a Vehicle Suspension with Variable Damping versus the Excitation Frequency

open access: yesJournal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2012
In this work, three types of vehicle suspensions were considered and modeled as follows: oil damper mounted in parallel with a compression helical spring, for which a Kelvin-Voigt model, consisted of a dashpot and an elastic element connected in ...

Investigating the Low‐Temperature Phase Stability of the Binary Ta–W System

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Atomistic simulations show that the binary Ta–W system forms ordered intermetallic phases, B2‐TaW and D03‐TaW3, as 0 K ground states. Configurational entropy, however, lowers the free energy of the disordered bcc solid solution, which becomes the stable phase above about 400 K.
