The Suppressibility of Otoacoustic Emissions and Loudness by Low-Frequency Biasing Tones as a Function of Probe Level. [PDF]
Purpose: Biasing of the cochlear partition by tones below 100 Hz is commonly used to investigate cochlear non-linearity. Their long periodicity allows resolution of the suppression of cochlear responses as the partition is displaced periodically away ...

Experimental investigation of dynamic impact of firearm with suppressor
The internal ballistics processes occur in the tube during firearm firing. They cause tremendous vibratory shock forces and robust sound. The determination of these dynamic parameters is relevant in order to estimate reasonably the firearm ergonomic and ...

OCTA-KONG vibration operation.
During vibration, the pile and hammer are rigidly connected (A). The OCTA-KONG was a tandem combination of 8× APE 600 (B), with each APE600 composed of a suppressor housing, a vibrator gearbox and a clamping attachment (C).

Optimized design of adaptable vibrations suppressors in semi-active control of circular plate vibrations [PDF]
Due to flexibility of thin plates, high amplitude vibrations are observed when they are subjected to severe dynamic loads. Due to the extensive application of circular plates in industry, attenuating the undesired vibrations is of foremost importance. In this paper, adaptable vibration suppressors (AVSs) as a semi-active control approach, are utilized ...

EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Defining a Parameter of Effectiveness for the Suppression of Vortex-Induced Vibration
The vortex-induced vibration (VIV) phenomenon is a very important issue in ocean and offshore engineering. When bluff bodies are immersed in a current, the boundary layers separate and form shear layers that can interact causing a periodic vortex ...

Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.
