Results of the skull vibratory test (SVT) in partial unilateral vestibular peripheral lesions (PUVL) are different from the results in total vestibular lesions (TUVL).To reveal a correlation between the results of the analysis of the skull vibratory nystagmus (SVN) horizontal component and the side of the lesion; to correlate these results with the ...

Although sleep bruxism (SB) is one of the most important clinical problems in dental practice, there is no definitive method for controlling it. This pilot study evaluated the effects of contingent vibratory feedback stimuli using an occlusal splint for inhibition of sleep bruxism.Thirteen subjects with clinically diagnosed SB participated after ...

Thresholds for the detection of sinusoidal vibration were measured for stimuli ranging in duration from 15 to 1000 ms. The test stimuli were 250-Hz bursts of vibration with 10-ms rise-fall times applied through either a 3.0 or 0.01 cm2 contactor to the thenar eminence of the right hand.

Vibratory stimuli on the skin are mediated by two major receptors: Meissner corpuscles and Pacinian corpuscles. These receptors differ in properties such as density distribution, receptive field size, frequency sensitivity and depth of location.
