The effect of different types of oral mouth rinses on the hardness of Silorane-based and Nano-hybrid composites

open access: yesSaudi Journal of Oral Sciences, 2014
Background: The restorative materials used in dentistry are required to have long-term durability in the oral cavity. Effect of various fluids in the oral environment can affect the hardness of these restorations.

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Effect of ball milling and solid solution treatment on microstructure and mechanical properties of ZrMgMo3O12p/2024Al composites

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
The 10 vol% ZrMgMo3O12/2024Al composites were fabricated using the powder metallurgy process and consolidation via vacuum hot pressing. The effects of the ball milling process and solution treatment time on the composites’ microstructure, Vickers ...

Automated Pin-Dot Marking Effects on A709-Gr50 Steel Plate Fatigue Capacity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
During fabrication of multi-piece steel bridge assemblies, markings are often made on the steel surface to identify/track individual pieces or to provide reference for fabrication layout or later erection.

Thermodynamic aspects of materials' hardness: prediction of novel superhard high-pressure phases

open access: yes, 2011
In the present work we have proposed the method that allows one to easily estimate hardness and bulk modulus of known or hypothetical solid phases from the data on Gibbs energy of atomization of the elements and corresponding covalent radii.

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Evaluation of mechanical properties of recasted dental base metal alloys for considering their reusability in dentistry and engineering field

open access: yesArchives of Medicine and Health Sciences, 2014
Background: Base metal casting alloys are extensively used in dentistry to fabricate many oral appliances and a huge amount is wasted in the form of sprues and buttons during the casting procedure. Recycling and reusing these alloys by clean technologies
