Fabrication of pH‐Responsive Acryloyl Phenylalanine‐Grafted Chondroitin Sulfate Hydrogels With Tunable Swelling Potential

open access: yesPolymers for Advanced Technologies, Volume 36, Issue 7, July 2025.
ABSTRACT This work reports the first hydrogel of its kind, based on phenylalanine amino acid‐grafted chondroitin sulfate, exhibiting high and variable swelling without rupture. Grafting of N‐Acryloyl‐L‐phenylalanine (APA) on chondroitin sulfate enhances the strength of the hydrogel without compromising the swelling ratio.

Influence of Aluminum on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Air‐Hardened Medium Manganese Steel

open access: yessteel research international, Volume 96, Issue 7, July 2025.
This article investigates the influence of aluminum concentrations on the microstructure and mechanical properties of air‐hardening ductile steels. The reduction of the aluminum contents below 0.5 wt% is unfavorable as it does not ensure sufficient toughness.

Comparison of Fatigue Life and Strength Models for Defective Materials: Application to Scalmalloy in Different Surface Conditions

open access: yesFatigue &Fracture of Engineering Materials &Structures, Volume 48, Issue 7, Page 3185-3205, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Additive manufacturing (AM), particularly laser‐powder bed fusion (L‐PBF), has transformed the production of lightweight, high‐performance metallic components, with Scalmalloy emerging as a promising material due to its excellent strength‐to‐weight ratio, making it ideal for aerospace and automotive applications.

Thermal and mechanical properties of Mg–Al–Si–O–N glasses with up to 6.2 at.% nitrogen

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 108, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract This study investigates the structural, thermal, and mechanical properties of Mg–Al–Si–O–N glasses. Six compositions with increasing nitrogen content from 1.7 to 6.2 at.% were synthesized by melting mixtures of high‐purity oxide and nitride precursors, followed by quenching and annealing.
