Impact of Laser Radiation on Microhardness of a Semiconductor

open access: yes
It was found that strongly absorbed Nd:YAG laser radiation leads to a non-monotonous dependence of microhardness of p- and n-type Si crystals on laser radiation.

The Influence of Field‐Assisted Sintering Technology (FAST) Temperature and Cooling Rate on the Microstructural Evolution in Gamma‐Titanium Aluminide Alloy GE4822

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 18, 23 September 2026.
Controlling the Field Assisted Sintering Technology (FAST) parameters, dwell temperature and cooling rate, significantly influences the microstructural evolution in titanium aluminide GE4822. Significant γ‐lamellar colonies develop only upon cooling through the α‐transus.

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 17, 9 September 2026.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Hydrogen‐Assisted Fracture of Iron‐Based Fe–Ni–Al Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 17, 9 September 2026.
Principal relations and fracture mechanisms of single‐phase and precipitate‐strengthened Fe–Ni–Al alloys subjected to prior electrochemical hydrogen charging are identified. The mechanisms of hydrogen effect on strength and microhardness are discussed, including hydrogen‐induced increase in microhardness and the role of hydrogen in fracture behavior ...

Evaluation of color matching and microhardness of two different universal-shade resin composites: an in-vitro study

open access: yesBMC Oral Health
Background Dentists have started to use universal shade resin composites to simplify shade selection. This in vitro study assessed the color matching of two distinct universal shade resin composites (OMNICHROMA® and ONEshade™) following immersion in ...

Vickers Microhardness Testing with Miniaturized Disk Specimens

open access: yesVickers Microhardness Testing with Miniaturized Disk Specimens
application/pdf The microhardness technique has been increasingly important for testing irradiated materials because of the necessity of small-scale specimen technology. In order to establish Vickers microhardness testing over a wide temperature range using miniaturized specimens such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM) disks, an apparatus that ...
