Fascioliasis in vicugna (Vicugna vicugna) in the central highlands of Peru
The aim of this study was to determine the presence of F. hepatica eggs in vicugnas in the Paccha area, Junín, Peru, and to evaluate its association with sex and age. Samples (n=143) were collected from the rectum during a «chaccu» activity (annual capture of wild vicugnas by the local peasants for shearing (September).

Actinobacillus vicugnae sp. nov., isolated from alpaca (Vicugna pacos)
Ten strains of an Actinobacillus-like organism were isolated from alpaca (Vicugna pacos) in the UK over a period of 5 years, with no known epidemiological linkages. The isolates are distinct, based on both phenotype and genotype, from any previously described Actinobacillus species.

The vicuna is a high Andean wild camelid that lives year-long in groups. We analyzed the social organization of 98 marked vicunas after capture and live shearing, focusing on group composition, spatial patterns, territoriality and habitat use. The social units analyzed were families, bachelor groups and solo animals.
