Imaging of the Diaphragm Following Cardiac Surgery: Focus on Ultrasonographic Assessment

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, Volume 42, Issue 11, Page 2481-2490, November 2023., 2023

Non‐invasive phrenic nerve stimulation to avoid ventilator‐induced diaphragm dysfunction in critical care

open access: yesArtificial Organs, Volume 46, Issue 10, Page 1988-1997, October 2022., 2022
We demonstrate that the diaphragm can be exercised using non‐invasive electrical stimulation of the phrenic nerve and characterize the stimulation parameters required to achieve this. This opens the possibility of non‐invasive systems for maintaining diaphragm function in ventilated patients in an intensive care setting.
