Codec-Independent Scalable Distributed Video Coding [PDF]

open access: yes2007 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2007
In this paper, we introduce novel schemes for scalable distributed video coding (DVC), dealing with temporal, spatial and quality scalabilities. More specifically, conventional coding is used to obtain a base layer. DVC is then applied to generate enhancement layers.

A companion to the development of common data elements for Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP)

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, Volume 10, Issue 5, Page 1439-1449, October 2025.
Abstract Objective Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) is a rare but devastating consequence of epilepsy and is the leading cause of death in people with epilepsy. SUDEP is associated with certain characteristics such as the presence of generalized tonic–clonic seizures, duration of epilepsy, and refractoriness to anti‐seizure medications ...

Semantic Communication and Predictive Compression of Kinaesthetic Signals in Robotics With Learnable Matrices

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, Volume 10, Issue 5, Page 1363-1375, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Robotics plays an increasingly important role in all areas of human activity. Teleoperation robots can effectively ensure the safety of operators when operating in difficult and high‐risk industrial scenarios, which obviously requires instant and efficient signal compression and transmission in the system.

Video Codecs Simulation and Compare QoS Characteristics of Different Video Codecs

open access: yesEducation and Research Archive, 2014
In this project QoS characteristics of different video codecs are compared. QoS characteristics of H.265 and H.264 video codecs are tested and compared on identical network conditions and load. Traffic is running on a subset sample of Telus network. To carry out the simulation OMNET++ is used, OMNET++ is a network simulating software.

Optimising Spatial and Tonal Data for PDE-based Inpainting

open access: yes, 2015
Some recent methods for lossy signal and image compression store only a few selected pixels and fill in the missing structures by inpainting with a partial differential equation (PDE).

Exploring High Dimensional Feature Space With Channel‐Spatial Nonlinear Transforms for Learned Image Compression

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, Volume 10, Issue 4, Page 1235-1253, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Nonlinear transforms have significantly advanced learned image compression (LIC), particularly using residual blocks. This transform enhances the nonlinear expression ability and obtain compact feature representation by enlarging the receptive field, which indicates how the convolution process extracts features in a high dimensional feature ...

Multi‐Modal Instrument Performances (MMIP): A Musical Database

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, Volume 44, Issue 2, May 2025.
Abstract Musical instrument performances are multimodal creative art forms that integrate audiovisual elements, resulting from musicians' interactions with instruments through body movements, finger actions, and facial expressions. Digitizing such performances for archiving, streaming, analysis, or synthesis requires capturing every element that shapes

Development of an algorithm for identifying signs of intraframe editing of video images

open access: yesСовременная наука и инновации
This paper discusses an algorithm for detecting signs of intra-frame editing of video images when cutting or pasting into the source video stream. To do this, it is shown how images and video streams are formed, what algorithms are used to compress the ...
