Mesh-based video coding for low bit-rate communications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper, a new method for low bit-rate content-adaptive mesh-based video coding is proposed. Intra-frame coding of this method employs feature map extraction for node distribution at specific threshold levels to achieve higher density placement of ...

Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

Toward Visualization and Searching: A Dual-Purpose Video Coding Framework

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
To offer more powerful video-enabled applications, it is increasingly more critical not only to visualize the decoded video but also to provide efficient searching capabilities for similar content.

Lived and Care Experiences of Chronic Musculoskeletal Shoulder Pain in Australian Adults: A Qualitative Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Australian evidence on lived and care experiences of chronic musculoskeletal shoulder pain (CMSP), irrespective of disorder classification or disease, is limited. However, such evidence is important for person‐centered care and informing local service pathways and care guidelines or standards.

Avoiding Interruptions - QoE Trade-offs in Block-coded Streaming Media Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We take an analytical approach to study Quality of user Experience (QoE) for video streaming applications. First, we show that random linear network coding applied to blocks of video frames can significantly simplify the packet requests at the network ...

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Youth with Childhood‐Onset Lupus: A Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Our objective was to determine the feasibility and acceptability of the Treatment and Education Approach for Childhood‐onset Lupus (TEACH), a six‐session cognitive behavioral intervention addressing depressive, fatigue, and pain symptoms, delivered remotely to individual youth with lupus by a trained interventionist.
