MICROSURGICAL AND ENDOSCOPIC ANATOMY OF THE VIDIAN CANAL
Operative Neurosurgery, 2009The vidian canal, the conduit through the sphenoid bone for the vidian nerve and artery, has become an important landmark in surgical approaches to the cranial base. The objective of this study was to examine the anatomic features of the vidian canal, nerve, and artery, as well as the clinical implications of our findings.Ten adult cadaveric specimens ...

A Case of Juvenile Angiofibroma Confined to the Vidian Canal and Sphenoid Sinus
Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 2011ObjectiveIn this descriptive case we highlight the need for vigilance in investigating patients with typical demographic but without clinical signs of juvenile angiofibroma on nasendoscopy. We also examine the management of these cases where there is intimate relationship to the optic nerve and carotid artery.MethodWe use case records, correspondences,

Expanded endonasal approach: vidian canal as a landmark to the petrous internal carotid artery.
Journal of neurosurgery, 2008The purpose of this study was to describe the technique used to safely identify the petrous carotid artery during expanded endonasal approaches to the skull base. A series of 20 cadaveric studies was undertaken to isolate the vidian artery and nerve and to use them as landmarks to the petrous internal carotid artery (ICA).

AbstractBackgroundPostexcision residual disease in the vidian canal is speculated to contribute to recurrence in juvenile angiofibroma.MethodsWe composed a prospective cohort of 16 consecutive patients with juvenile angiofibroma (stages IIA–IIIB). The presurgical vidian canal assessment was done by contrast‐enhanced CT (1.2 mm collimation).

[Clinical observation of highly selective vidian neurectomy guided by the palatovaginal canal].
Lin chuang er bi yan hou tou jing wai ke za zhi = Journal of clinical otorhinolaryngology head and neck surgery, 2022Objective:Summarize the safety and feasibility of highly selective vidian neurectomy guided by the palatovaginal canal. Methods:Hypothermal plasma surgery was performed on 53 patients with perennial allergic rhinitis (PAR). Remove the soft tissue covering the anterior wall of the sphenoid process of palatine bone using the Coblation system.

[X-ray study of the canal of the vidian nerve].
Vestnik otorinolaringologii, 1989Examination of macerated skulls has shown that optimal tomographic images of the Vidian nerve are obtained when the physiological horizontal plane is normal to the table plane and the X-ray beam is as narrow as possible. The section depth varies from 6.0 to 6.5 cm in brachycephalic and from 7.0 to 7.5 cm in dolichocephalic individuals. This positioning
