Multi-view coding and view synthesis for 3DTV

2011 IEEE International Conference on Consumer Electronics (ICCE), 2011
In this paper we analyze the current developments in 3DTV technologies concerning multi-view video coding and free-viewpoint rendering. Multi-View Coding (MVC) can be performed in several ways that influence the performance and the complexity of the system. We underline the connection between coding and free-viewpoint rendering techniques.

View Synthesis under Perspective Projection

International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence, 2000
This paper addresses the issue of generating a 2D view of a 3D object from its other 2D views. Linear Combination method is the typical approach to this problem. However, a 2D view cannot be represented by a linear combination of other 2D views under perspective projection. Instead, we have presented a solution under perspective projection.

Boundary matting for view synthesis

Computer Vision and Image Understanding, 2005
In the last few years, new view synthesis has emerged as an important application of 3D stereo reconstruction. While the quality of stereo has improved, it is still imperfect, and a unique depth is typically assigned to every pixel. This is problematic at object boundaries, where the pixel colors are mixtures of foreground and background colors ...

View-LSTM: Novel-View Video Synthesis Through View Decomposition

2019 IEEE/CVF International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV), 2019
We tackle the problem of synthesizing a video of multiple moving people as seen from a novel view, given only an input video and depth information or human poses of the novel view as prior. This problem requires a model that learns to transform input features into target features while maintaining temporal consistency.

View interpolation for image synthesis

Proceedings of the 20th annual conference on Computer graphics and interactive techniques, 1993
Image-space simplifications have been used to accelerate the calculation of computer graphic images since the dawn of visual simulation. Texture mapping has been used to provide a means by which images may themselves be used as display primitives.

Parametric View-Synthesis

2000
We present a simple procedure for synthesising novel views, using two or more basis-images as input. It is possible for the user to interactively adjust the viewpoint, and for the corresponding image to be computed and rendered in real-time. Rather than employing a 3D model, our method is based on the linear relations which exist between images taken ...

A sub-pixel virtual view synthesis method for multiple view synthesis

28th Picture Coding Symposium, 2010
A sub-pixel virtual view synthesis (SPVVS) method is proposed in this paper. In the proposed method, by promoting the sampling rate of the target virtual view, the sub-pixel information of the corresponding pixel position among multiple input views with sub-pixel displacement can be utilized. A directional adaptive image interpolation is manipulated to

Stereoscopic View Synthesis by View Morphing

2008
We propose a novel approach to generate an arbitrary in-between stereoscopic view from a wide-baseline stereo camera using view morphing. Conventionally, a stereoscopic view for a real scene has been generated by a stereo camera which simulats the human eye configuration with approximately 65mm horizontal separation.
