Subversion of Atypical Mucin Traps by a Spore‐Coat Effector Blocks Cellular Immunity in Drosophila
While the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium robertsii can evade insect humoral immunity, its subversion of cellular defenses is still elusive. We identify Eac1 as a spore‐coat protein essential for infecting drosophilids by targeting atypical mucins (Sgf1 and Sgf2), which can entrap spores in a gel matrix and thereby facilitate hemocyte encapsulation.

Genomic diversity and global distribution of four new prasinoviruses from the tropical north Pacific
Viruses that infect phytoplankton are an integral part of marine ecosystems, but the vast majority of viral diversity remains uncultivated. Here, we introduce four near-complete genomic assemblies of viruses that infect the widespread marine ...

Not all viruses in nature are human enemies: a perspective on aquatic virus ecology in Brazil
: Viruses cause various diseases in humans through vector-borne (e.g., Zika and dengue fever), airborne (e.g., measles) and water-borne (e.g., hepatitis) transmission, as well as direct physical contact (e.g., AIDS and herpes).

Adaptive Responses of Tropical Crops: A Multi‐Scale Omics Integrated Perspective
Tropical crops integrate genomic, morphological, physiological, and ecological adaptations to thrive under extreme and variable environments. This review highlights how natural selection, domestication, and breeding shape stress resilience, resource‐use strategies, and productivity in sugarcane, banana, cassava, rubber and oil palm, offering new routes

MPXV infection leads to persistent viral replication and severe local inflammation, while existing treatments cannot simultaneously remove viruses and repair injured tissue. This study constructs Polymer@mPDA@Gel hydrogel via a two‐step hierarchical assembly method: mPDA anchors photothermal polymers to form antiviral photothermal subunits, which are ...

Inferring phage–bacteria infection networks from time-series data [PDF]
In communities with bacterial viruses (phage) and bacteria, the phage–bacteria infection network establishes which virus types infect which host types. The structure of the infection network is a key element in understanding community dynamics. Yet, this

The rain feels different under the same umbrella: Experiences with poverty across LGBTQ subgroups
Abstract Population‐based survey data have demonstrated that LGBTQ communities report varying rates of economic insecurity, yet very little research directly assesses how pathways into and experiences with poverty look different among subgroups at the intersections of sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI).
