Assessment of packed bed bioreactor systems in the production of viral vaccines

open access: yesAMB Express, 2014
Vaccination is believed to be the most effective method for the prevention of infectious diseases. Thus it is imperative to develop cost effective and scalable process for the production of vaccines so as to make them affordable for mass use.

ZNRD2 Mediated Nucleoprotein Aggregation Impairs Respiratory Syncytial Virus Replication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
During RSV infection, nucleoprotein (N) forms RNA‐bound oligomers. The host protein ZNRD2 binds to these oligomers, promoting their transition into insoluble aggregates. These aggregates simultaneously sequester functional N to restrict viral production and disrupt chaperonin assembly quality control by interfering with ZNRD2's role as an adaptor ...

Impact of Climate and Environmental Factors on West Nile Virus Circulation in Iran

open access: yesJournal of Arthropod-Borne Diseases, 2016
Background: Geographic distribution of West Nile virus (WNV) is heterogeneous in Iran by a high circulation in the southern-western areas. The objective of our study was to determine environmental and climatic factors associated with the risk of WNV ...

Safety and Efficacy of Adoptive Transfer of Stem Cell Memory Enriched Virus Specific T Cells against CMV and EBV

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study finds that CD8⁺ TSCM cells exhibit superior self‐renewal, differentiation, and antiviral activity. Transcriptome and epigenome analyses highlight MAPK cascade regulation in TSCM cells. In vivo, virus‐specific TSCM cells show enhanced persistence and tumor protection.

Potent and Long‐Lasting Immunogenicity Generated by LNP‐mRNA gE Antigen Against Varicella Zoster Virus via an AI‐Assisted Pipeline

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study designs a novel mRNA‐LNP vaccine targeting VZV glycoprotein E (gE) for herpes zoster via an AI‐assisted pipeline. Validated in mice and rhesus macaques, the mRNA‐LNP vaccine shows strong humoral and cellular immune responses, with CD4+ T‐cell responses more effective and durable than Shingrix, offering a promising prophylactic option ...

CXCR3+ T Follicular Helper Cells Induced by Co-Administration of RTS,S/AS01B and Viral-Vectored Vaccines Are Associated With Reduced Immunogenicity and Efficacy Against Malaria

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
A malaria vaccine strategy targeting multiple lifecycle stages may be required to achieve a high level of efficacy. In two Phase IIa clinical trials, we tested immunogenicity and efficacy of RTS,S/AS01B administered alone, in a staggered regimen with ...

A Lung‐Immune Dual‐Humanized Mouse Using Cryopreserved Tissue Enables Infection and Immune Profiling of Human Common Cold Coronaviruses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cryopreserved lung‐humanized mice overcome the dependency to fresh tissues and permit head‐to‐head profiling of all four human common cold coronaviruses versus SARS‐CoV‐2 infection; the model validates Paxlovid efficacy against HKU1 and, when coupled with human immune‐system engraftment, enables interrogation of lung‐resident human immunity and HKU1 ...
