Comparison of Serological Methods for Tick-Borne Encephalitis Virus-Specific Antibody Detection in Wild Boar and Sheep: Impact of the Screening Approach on the Estimated Seroprevalence

open access: yesViruses, 2023
Tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) is a flavivirus transmitted by ticks. Serological screenings in animals are performed to estimate the prevalence and distribution of TBEV.

Zika virus infection in semen: Effect on human reproduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Unique among vector-borne flaviviruses, Zika virus can infect testis and male genital tract, can persist in semen for months after symptoms onset, and be sexually transmitted.

A prokaryotic-eukaryotic hybrid viral vector for delivery of large cargos of genes and proteins into human cells

open access: yesScience Advances, 2019
An engineered viral vector of bacteriophage T4 linked to AAV delivers large payloads of genes and proteins into human cells. Development of safe and efficient nanoscale vehicles that can deliver large molecular cargos into human cells could transform ...

Insights into pegRNA design from editing of the cardiomyopathy‐associated phospholamban R14del mutation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how prime editing guide RNA (pegRNA) secondary structure and reverse transcriptase template length affect prime editing efficiency in correcting the phospholamban R14del cardiomyopathy‐associated mutation. Insights support the design of structurally optimized enhanced pegRNAs for precise gene therapy.

RNA-based viral vectors

open access: yesExpert Review of Vaccines, 2014
The advent of reverse genetic approaches to manipulate the genomes of both positive (+) and negative (-) sense RNA viruses allowed researchers to harness these genomes for basic research. Manipulation of positive sense RNA virus genomes occurred first largely because infectious RNA could be transcribed directly from cDNA versions of the RNA genomes ...

Viral Vectors for Plant Genome Engineering [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2017
Recent advances in genome engineering (GE) has made it possible to precisely alter DNA sequences in plant cells, providing specifically engineered plants with traits of interest. Gene targeting efficiency depends on the delivery-method of both sequence-specific nucleases and repair templates, to plant cells.

Intron‐oriented HTLV‐1 integration in an adult T‐cell leukemia/lymphoma cell line sustains expression of intact ift81 mRNA

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In the adult T‐cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL) cell line ED, the human T‐cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV‐1) provirus was integrated into the intron of the ift81 gene in the antisense orientation. Despite this integration, both the intact ift81 and the viral oncogene hbz were simultaneously expressed, likely due to the functional insufficiency of viral ...
