In this study, a new mechanism is proposed to develop a second virtual cathode (VC2). An axial vircator was simulated by adding a floating zone plate (ZP) inside the drift tube, which is designed at the dominant frequency of 3.42 GHz.

Improved Vlasov Antenna with Curved Cuts and Optimized Reflector Position and Shape
This paper presents a Vlasov antenna with curved cut shape and improved reflector position and geometry suitable for high power microwave applications. The curved shape of the proposed cut totally eliminates the sharp edges and angles present in Vlasov antennas with step and bevel cuts.

Resonance effect on a coaxial vircator
Some experiments at Institute of Applied Electronics of CAEP showed that the interaction between the virtual cathode oscillator and the cavity is a key factor in determining the output microwave power and propagating modes.
