Virial coefficients from equation of state
Journal of Molecular Liquids, 2003Abstract This paper presents the theoretical prediction of second, third and fourth virial coefficients of linear hard chain molecules employing equations of state. The equations of state are determined through statistical associating fluid theory (SAFT).

Virial equation of state of nonpolar gases
Journal of engineering physics, 1984An equation of state is studied in which the second and third virial coefficients are calculated theoretically and an empirical expression is used for the fourth virial coefficient. It is shown that this equation of state describes the experimental data on the compressibility of nonpolar gases for T ⩾ 0.7TB and ρ⩽ 0.8pcr.

Truncation errors associated with the virial equation
Fluid Phase Equilibria, 1977Abstract The virial equation is useful and frequently applied because of its precise foundation in statistical mechanics. Unfortunately, the equation is an infinite series which requires truncation for practical applications. This paper contains generalized plots suggesting optimal truncation of the virial equation and other generalized plots which ...

A generalized quantum virial equation
Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1977A method, similar to the one previously used by the author in his derivation of a generalized classical virial theorem (see ibid., vol.10, no.4, p.507 (1977)), is used to derive a generalized quantum virial equation. This equation is applicable to any part of a larger system of particles.

Exponential Virial Equation of State
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1968An equation of state is derived which has promise for the prediction of high-density fluid behavior. An approximate form of this new equation yields expressions for approximate virial coefficients of all orders as functions of lower-order exact virial coefficients.

Virial equation of state for rigid spherocylinders
Molecular Physics, 1978Third, fourth and fifth virial coefficients are reported for isotropic systems of hard prolate spherocylinders with length to breadth ratios of up to 6:1. The results are compared with other recent data for such molecules and with the predictions of an analytical equation of state for convex hard molecules. The variation with shape of the fourth virial

The Bender Equation of State and Virial Coefficients
Collection of Czechoslovak Chemical Communications, 2000The second and third virial coefficients calculated from the Bender equation of state (BEOS) are tested against experimental virial coefficient data. It is shown that the temperature dependences of the second and third virial coefficients as predicted by the BEOS are sufficiently accurate. We conclude that experimental second virial coefficients should

WKB for coupled equations and virial coefficientsa)
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1982Using semiclassical expressions for eigenphase shifts and bound state energies arising from WKB approximations to the solutions of coupled equations, we show that quantum mechanical formulas for the third virial coefficient (restricted to positive potentials) and for the second virial cofficient (with anisotropic interactions) lead to the known ...
